Do I need SPM / O-Level / STPM / A-Level to enrol at The International Sewing School?

No. Our SKM Level 2 & 3 Fashion Programme has no minimum academic requirement. You don't even need SPM. As long as you can read and write in English, have a genuine passion for fashion, and can carry yourself well in a short interview — you're welcome to apply. We don't gatekeep by grades. Every applicant goes through a clear interview session. We're not looking for the best exam results. We're looking for the right people.

How does the PTPK loan work for the full-time sewing and fashion programme?

The full-time SKM Level 2 & 3 programme is RM 25,000 in total, structured in two parts. The RM 5,000 admission fee is payable upon enrolment and covers tools, equipment, materials, and study notes. The remaining RM 20,000 is the tuition fee, fully eligible for a PTPK (Perbadanan Tabung Pembangunan Kemahiran) education loan. The PTPK loan typically takes 15 to 20 working days to process. Repayment begins only after graduation.

Can I use my KWSP Account 2 to pay for the fashion and sewing course?

Yes. The part-time SKM Level 2 & 3 programme (RM 20,000) is approved for KWSP (EPF) Account 2 withdrawal. If you are currently working and have KWSP savings, you can use your existing contributions to fund the programme — no loan, no debt, no financial strain. This makes the part-time route a genuinely practical choice for working adults who want to upskill and pivot into fashion without disrupting their finances. Our admissions team will guide you through the KWSP withdrawal process from start to finish.

What is SKM Level 2 and Level 3 certification and is it recognised by employers in Malaysia?

SKM stands for Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia — a nationally recognised vocational certificate issued by JPK (Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran) under Malaysia's Ministry of Human Resources. Employers in the Malaysian fashion industry recognise JPK-certified graduates as job-ready.

Do I need prior sewing experience to join the SKM fashion programme?

No prior sewing or fashion design experience is required. The programme is designed for beginners and starts from machine operation, body measurements, and basic pattern making fundamentals.
